Cancer candle ceremony is
The 2019 Switzerland County FFA Queen of Hearts, Brooke Johnson, will partner with the FFA and the Community Foundation of Switzerland County, Inc., to host a special event.
A luminary event will be held this Saturday, September 28th at the Switzerland County High School track to benefit the “Keeping Pace” cancer fund through the Community Foundation of Switzerland County, Inc. “PG-13” will have deejay music during the event, as well as the high school band and the elementary, middle school and high school choirs will be performing.
The FFA invites cancer patients, survivors and families of those who have lost the battle with cancer to attend this event. Organizers plan to honor all with a candle lighting ceremony.
There will be donation buckets at the event, with proceeds going to the “Keeping Pace Cancer Fund”, a fund within the Community Foundation of Switzerland County, Inc., to help county residents in treatment for all types of cancer.
The event will start at 6:30 p.m. with music from “PG-13”, following by a performance by the band and choir at 7:30 p.m..
At 8 p.m. all cancer survivors will be honored; and with choir and band following that with a tribute. At approximately 8:25 p.m. all cancer survivors and those who are currently battling the disease will be asked to come onto the high school track; and a moment of silence will follow at 8:30 p.m.
The ceremony will conclude at 9 p.m.
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be at the high school gym.
The event is also being sponsored by the Switzerland County Pep Club. Everyone in the community is invited to come and be a part of this special event.
