The Switzerland County High School boys track team finished third overall in last Thursday’s Milan Invitational, but the big story of the night was Pacer Brandon Otter, who was named the Most Valuable Participant in the meet by scoring 29 1/2 points.
The senior won the long jump with a distance of 18′ 4 1/2″; finished first in the high jump with a height of 6’0″; was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of :24.21; and was a part of the third place 400-meter relay team, along with Kyle Green, Nathan Hickman, and Jesse Bailey.
Nathan Hickman earned two first place ribbons, winning the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles; and he was also fifth in the 200-meter dash.
Clay Meyer won the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:03 to earn Switzerland County’s other first place points.
Tray Meyer was second in the 1,600-meter run; and the 3,200-meter relay team of Tray Meyer, Chad Robinson, Zach O’Neal, and Kyle Jaynes was third.
Kyle Green earned fourth place points in the long jump, high jump, and shot put; and the 1,600-meter relay team of Chad Robinson, Zach O’Neal, Jesse Bailey, and Kyle Jaynes also finished fourth.
Zak Rayls had a personal best distance of 40’7″ to finish fifth in the shot put; and Tony Meadows was fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Milan won the meet with a team score of 120, followed by North Decatur with 99; and Switzerland County with 94. South Decatur, Jac-Cen-Del, and Southwestern also participated.
