Braden Burk advances to Junior Olympic Nationals

Braden Burk is going to the 2009 USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships, and will be participating next week in the event at Greensboro, North Carolina.

He qualified for the nationals after representing Indiana in the Region 7 USATF Junior Olympic trials in Plainfield, Illinois, on July 12th. He competed in three running events — the 800-meter run, the 1,500-meter run and the 3,000-meter run. The top three finishers from each event qualified to advance to the nationals. Braden was third in two events — the 800-meter in 2:18 and the 3,000-meter in 10:39. He was also fourth in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:50.

The nationals will be held July 28th through August at North Carolina A&T University on Irwin Belk Track. Braden will be competing in the 800-meter run and the 3,000-meter run. Braden, of Vevay, is the son of Brad and Lisa Burk.
