BPA students compete in district competition at Seymour

Members of the Switzerland County High School Business Professionals of America organization traveled to Seymour High School this past Saturday to compete in the BPA District Competition.

Of the 26 students from Switzerland County who participated in the conference, 21 of the students ranked high enough in their competition categories to advance to the State Leadership Conference, which will be held in Indianapolis.

Here’s how the students did:

– Fundamental Accounting: Walter Barnes, ninth place, advances to the state conference.

– Advance Spreadsheet: Tim Steinbis, first place, advances to the state conference.

– Banking and Finance: Courtney Roland, 10th place, advances to the state conference.

– Keyboarding: Adeli Kinne, fourth place, advances to the state conference; Stephanie Smith, ninth place, advances to the state conference.

– Fundamental Word Processing: Amanda Chatham, fourth place, advances to the state conference; Jennifer Johnson, seventh place, advances to the state conference; Erika Coy, eighth place, advances to the state conference.

– Advanced Word Processing: Nathaniel Forbeck, second place, advances to the state conference; Laura Nay, fifth place, advances to the state conference; Samantha Helt, sixth place, advances to the state conference; Walter Barnes, eighth place, advances to the state conference; Jacob Jones, ninth place, advances to the state conference.

– Basic Office Systems and Procedures: Ashley Kirtman, second place, advances to the state conference; Rachel Whitham, sixth place, advances to the state conference; Jennifer Johnson, seventh place, advances to the state conference; Hayley South, ninth place, advances to the state conference.

- Legal Office Procedures: David Wheeler, first place, advances to the state conference.

– Database Applications: Celby Kinney, first place, advances to the state conference; Chelsea Duvall, second place, advances to the state conference.

- Administrative Support Team: Laura Nay, Samantha Helt, Chelsea Duvall, and Erika Coy, first place, advance to the state conference.

– PC Servicing and Troubleshooting: Tim Steinbis, ninth place, advances to the state conference.

– Small Business Management Team: Chloe Griffin, Logan Todd, and Skyler Harmon, second place, advances to the state conference.

– Presentation Management, Individual: Hayley South, third place, advances to the state conference.

– Presentation Management, Team: Jacob Jones and Adeli Kinne, third place.

– Extemporaneous Speech: Chloe Griffin, sixth place.

– Interview Skills: Caitlin Fairhurst, sixth place.

– Administrative Support Open Test: Lauren Edwards, sixth place; Samantha Helt, seventh place; and Erika Coy, ninth place.

– Parliamentary Open Test: Devin Coy, third place.
