BPA group from high school has outstanding district competition

The Switzerland County High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) Club came away with six first place finishes at the BPA District Leadership Conference held at Seymour High School on Saturday, January 15th.

Competing against 15 other schools, including chapters from Columbus, Bloomington, and Bedford, Switzerland County High School students captured victories in Advanced Word Processing, Database Applications, Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications, Advanced Spreadsheet Applications, Computerized Accounting, and Extemporaneous Speech.

In all, 17 Switzerland County High School students will move on to compete at the upcoming State Leadership Conference, which takes place from February 27th through March 2nd in Indianapolis.

Individual results include:

– Computerized Accounting: Dylan Griffith, first place.

– Fundamental Spreadsheets: Laura Nay, first place; Ashly Miller, second place; Tim Steinbis, 10th place; and Trisha Smith, 11th place.

- Advanced Spreadsheets: Tim McAlister, first place; Emma Johnson, second place.

– Keyboarding Productions: Erika Coy, third place; Bre Ricketts, seventh place.

– Fundamental Word Processing: Morgan Hale, seventh place; Logan Todd, 11th place.

– Advanced Word Processing: Samantha Helt, first place; Kati Bentle, second place; Emma Johnson, fourth place; and Tim McAlister, sixth place.

– Administrative Support Team: Samantha Helt, Chelsea Duvall, and Laura Nay, second place.

– Database Applications: Chelsea Duvall, first place; Josh Carr, third place.

– PC Service and Troubleshooting: Morgan Hale, sixth place.

– Extemporaneous Speech: Chloe Griffin, first place.

– Interview Skills: Julie Furnish, third place.

– Video Production Team: Kati Bentle, Tyler Fugate, Rachel Griffin, and Damon Robbins, third place.
