Boys varsity track in Rising Sun Invitational

The Switzerland County High School boys varsity track team participated last Thursday night in the Rising Sun Invitational, finishing fifth out of six teams.

Rising Sun won the meet with a team score of 127; followed by South Dearborn with 120; Lawrenceburg with 66 1/2; Southwestern with 64 1/2; Switzerland County with 53; and East Central with 31.

Brandon Otter brought home Switzerland County’s only first place ribbon, winning the high jump in a personal best height of 6’4″. He was also sixth in the long jump; and was part of the fourth place 400-meter relay team along with Nathan Hickman, Luke May, and Kyle Green.

Nathan Hickman finished second in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best time of :42.3; and was third in the 110-meter high hurdles.

Clay Meyer was third in the 1,600-meter run in a personal best time of 4:44; and Kyle Green was third in the shot put and fourth in the high jump. Zack Rayls was fourth in the shot put, throwing a personal best distance of 39’3″.

Luke May was fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles; and the 3,200-meter relay team of Chad Robinson, Matt Johnson, Jim Abbott, and Clay Meyer also finished fifth.

“We are definitely moving in the right direction,” head coach Sean McGarvey said. “Hopefully we will get a few guys back from injury by the conference meet.”

The ORVC Conference Meet will be held tonight (Thursday) at Madison High School.
