Boys track team finishes second in 4-way meet


The Switzerland County Pacer boys varsity track team came close to picking up a win on Tuesday night, but in the end had to settle for second place overall in a four-way meet at home.

South Ripley won the meet with a score of 76; followed by Switzerland County with 72; Jac-Cen-Del with 40; and Shawe Memorial finished with 40.

Clay Meyer had an outstanding meet, winning the 1,600-meter run with a personal best time of 4:45; and also winning the 3,200-meter run with a personal best time of 10:57. He was also part of the 3,200-meter relay team along with Jim Abbott, Chad Robinson, and Matt Johnson that finished second overall.

Nathan Hickman dominated the 300-meter hurdles to claim the win, and also finished second in the 110-meter high hurdles; was third in the 200-meter dash; and was a part of the 400-meter relay team along with Brandon Otter, Luke May, and Kyle Green that finished second.

Kyle Green won the shot put with a personal best distance of 42’6″; and Brandon Otter won the high jump.

Matt Johnson finished second in the 400-meter dash and Brandon Otter was second in the long jump.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Matt Johnson, Chad Robinson, Michael Haas, and Ian Sisson also finished third; as did Kory Harbin in the 100-meter dash; Jim Abbott in the 3,200-meter run; and Kyle Green in the high jump.

Fourth place points were earned by Ian Sisson in the 100-meter dash; Zach Rayls in the shot put; and Kyle Green in the long jump.

Finishing fifth were Kory Harbin in the 200-meter dash and Michael Haas in the 800-meter run.

The Pacers will participate in the Rising Sun Invitational tonight (Thursday).
