Boys track season ends at Sectional

The Switzerland County Pacer track team saw its season come to an end last Thursday night in the highly-competitive Jeffersonville Track Sectional.

The Pacers finished with a team score of 17, good enough for ninth place overall. Silver Creek won the Sectional with a score of 170; followed by Jeffersonville with 129 1/2; Scottsburg with 69; Charlestown with 56; Henryville with 54; Madison with 52 1/2; Southwestern with 25; Rock Creek Academy with 18.

After the Pacers, Austin had 16; Shawe Memorial finished with 11; and New Washington had 3.

Individually, Keegan Morris capped his outstanding year with a fourth place finish in the 100-meter dash in a time of :11.68; and Brody Splain finished seventh in the 100-meter dash in a time of :11.82.

Will Pike finished fifth overall in the 400-meter dash in a time of :54.10; Jordan Lay was ninth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:17.19; Nolan Armstrong was 17th in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:44; and the 3,200-meter run featured Cameron Papucci finishing ninth in 11:20.95 and Garrett Demaree finishing 13th in a time of 11:56.94.

In the 110-meter high hurdles, Bailey Bennett finished seventh in a time of :17.49; and he came back with a strong performance in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, finishing 13th in a time of :48.21.

In the field events, Hunter Hayes was 12th in the long jump with a distance of 18’1″; and Logan Parton was 18th in the long jump with a leap of 16’1 1/2″.

Brad Rickett was 12th in the shot put with a distance of 36′ 6 1/2″ and he was 13th in the discus with a throw of 97’7″. Cameron Shaw finished 11th in the discus with a throw of 103’8″ and he was 17th in the shot put with a distance of 32′ 11 1/2″.

In the 1,600-meter relay, the Switzerland County team of Bennett, Cameron Niswander, Parton, and Pike finished fifth with a time of 3:50.88.
