Both middle school cross country teams earn ORVC titles
The Ohio River Valley Conference held its ORVC Middle School cross country meet on Tuesday night, and both the Switzerland County boys and girls teams earned conference championships. In the girls race, Claire Rogers was the individual ORVC champ; with the Lady Pacers earning 34 points to defeat rival Southwestern, which finished with 42 points. Rising Sun had 85 points; Milan had 95 points; Shawe Memorial had 124 points; and Jac-Cen-Del had 128 points. South Ripley did not have enough runners to have a team score.
For the girls: Rogers was the overall winner with at time of 12:58. She and four teammates made the all-conference team, which included Halle Archer finishing fourth in a time of 13:21; Carlee Boggs finishing sixth in a time of 13:26; Amber Detmer finishing 11th in a time of 13:53; and Bri Stow finishing 12th in a time of 13:57. Macy Collier finished 18th with a time of 14:30; and Miranda Earls finished 36th in a time of 18:39.
In the boys race, led by a fourth place finish from Dylan Sullivan, the Pacers finished with 45 points while Southwestern totaled 51. Milan had 73; Rising Sun had 73; and South Ripley had 104. Shawe Memorial and Jac-Cen-Del did not have enough runners to post a team score. In each race, the top 12 runners earned All Conference honors.
Boys results included Sullivan’s fourth place finish in a time of 11:46, which earned him a spot on the all-conference team along with his teammates: Cale Collier, sixth place in a time of 12:03; Derek Hoskins, 10th place in a time of 12:24; and Luke Sullivan, 12th place with a time of 12:36.
Peyton Richards was 13th in a time of 12:44; Kadyn Riley finished 20th in a time of 14:15 and Caleb Riley was 27th with a time of 14:59.
