The Switzerland County commissioners met for their monthly meeting on Monday, July 27th. The regularly scheduled meeting was postponed from July 21st.

Commissioner Steve Lyons opened the meeting asking the crowd for a moment of silence due to the death of county employee Ann Holdcroft and fellow commissioner Mark Lohide’s mother, Carolyn.

In business discussed by the Commissioners:

– Darrell Keith of the highway department reported that work on the Bennington Pike bridge is on schedule and should be complete by the time school starts. He also informed the commissioners that the chip and seal process will start next week on Turtle Creek Road.

– The commissioners approved a quote from Siemens to do preventative maintenance on the 1,200-amp breaker that controls the Courthouse. The quote was for a five year plan, with the first year costing the county $1,787, and each following year there will be a small increase.

– It was decided that the TEC Building will not be open to the public during 4-H Fair week.
