As Laci and Rick Daugherty continue to recover from injuries that each sustained in a one vehicle accident on Monday, August 4th, near Vevay, the entire Switzerland County community has focused its attention on the father and daughter – and many organizations are working on projects to help the family.

– Laci Daugherty is a member of the senior class at Switzerland County High School, and her classmates will be holding a benefit for her this Saturday, August 30th, at the Dollar General Store on the west end of Vevay.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.; and will feature a cookout and car wash.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Daugherty family.

– Rick Daugherty is the pastor of Spring Branch Baptist Church west of Vevay, and his church family will be holding a special benefit on Saturday, September 13th, from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The event will be held at Switzerland County High School cafeteria, with other community churches joining in the sponsorship of the program. There will be food, music, and an auction, with proceeds from all of the activities going to the family.

Anyone who would like to be a part of the entertainment; or who has an article that they would like to donate for the auction, may do so be calling Sandy Ellegood at 427-3770; Peggy Yount at 427-0286; Rita Griswold at 427-9551; or Tracey McFarland at 427-9875.

Items for the auction may also be dropped off at the Vevay Newspapers office at 111 West Market Street.

– The Links at Grand Victoria Casino will host a benefit golf scramble for the family on Sunday afternoon, September 21st.

The shotgun start will be at 1:30 p.m.; and the four-person scramble format will be used. Cost is $100 per golfer or $400 per foursome; and there will be prizes for the first, second, and third place teams. The winning team members will each get a set of new irons.

There will be long drive, closest to the pin, and long putt events; and there will also be a benefit auction that day.

Event sponsors ($500), hole sponsors ($100), and auction sponsors are being sought; and those wanting more information may contact Jeff Weales at 812-584-2966; or Coldwell Banker River Ridge Realtors at 427-3335.

– A special fund has been established at MainSource Bank in Vevay for the family. Anyone wishing to make a donation may do so at either the Vevay or East Enterprise branches.
