The community is invited to attend a benefit for Travis Griffith this Sunday, August 13th. The event will be held at the Jeff-Craig Firehouse on Ferry Street in Vevay, and will be held from noon until 6 p.m.
Travis Griffith is a 45-year old husband and father of four. He has taught at Switzerland County Elementary School for 19 years.
On June 1st of this year, he was diagnosed with cancer; and on June 13th, he suffered a stroke and was airlifted from his home to the University of Cincinnati hospital. A biopsy showed that Travis has Ewing’s Sarcoma, which is typically a childhood cancer. He is now expected to begin treatments at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, which will likely consist of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. He is also continuing therapy to recover from his stroke.
At the benefit, there will be a spaghetti and garlic bread lunch available for $5, ; and there will also be raffles and prizes; a bake sale; a silent auction; a split the pot raffle; and a cornhole tournament.
Donations are now being accepted. To help, call (812) 584-9907; (812) 493-1132; or (812) 290-7637.
