The Switzerland County Pacer track runner Ben Hickman placed second overall in the long jump at last Friday’s Connersville Regional — establishing a new school record and qualifying him to participate in this Saturday’s State Track Meet.

His jump of 22’ 1” broke the former Switzerland County High School record by four inches.

Pacer teammate Brandon Otter placed ninth in the high jump with a height of 6’0”; and B. J. Shelton also participated at the regional level in shot put with a distance of 44’ 8 1/2”.

“I am very proud of all three of these guys, they came to the regional and gave it all they had,” Coach Sean McGarvey said. “Ben Hickman qualified for the state meet in the long jump and I could not be happier for him.”

The IHSAA meet will be Saturday, June 3rd in Bloomington at the Indiana University Campus.
