The Ohio River Valley Conference has released its listing of “Players of the Week” and “Top Performers” for the week of April 21st-26th – and Switzerland County athletes Becky Turner and Nathan Hickman have earned high honors.
– In softball, Becky Turner was honored as the “Player of the Week” for pitching 25 innings, recording 28 strikeouts, allowing just six earned runs, and picking up three wins during the week. She was also honored as the MVP of the Rivertown Classic Tournament.
She shared “Player of the Week” honors with Devin Brierly of Southwestern.
Other Lady Pacers honored as “Top Performers” included Tanya Sefton and Jenna Daugherty.
Tanya Sefton was honored for going 7-for-10 at the plate including a double and a triple and scoring four runs during the week.
Jenna Daugherty was honored for going 6-for-14 at the plate including a double, scoring four runs and recording two RBI during the week.
Other conference players honored as “Top Performers” included: Janine Huff of Jac-Cen-Del; Courtney Crabtree, Becca Haugh, and Kaity Barton of Milan; Kyla Sexton, Sally Adams, and Katie Polly of South Ripley; Courtney Weaver and Michele McDaniel of Rising Sun; Rachel Mussel and Tori Valkovci of Madison Shawe; and Kendall Withered of Southwestern.
– In boys track, Nathan Hickman was honored as the “Performer of the Week” for recording conference-best times in the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.
He was joined in weekly honors by teammates Brandon Otter and Clay Meyer.
Brandon Otter was a “Top Performer” for setting the standard in both the high jump and long jump; while Clay Meyer was honored for his conference-best time in the 3,200-meter run.
Other “Top Performers” included: Terrance Jones of Rising Sun in the discus and shot put; Tyler Banschbach in the 100-meter dash; Isaac Crouch of Rising Sun in the 400-meter dash; Josh Dickey of Milan in the 800-meter run; Andrew Pulliam of Rising Sun in the 1,600-meter run; the 400-meter relay team from Rising Sun; the 1,600-meter relay team from Milan; and the 3,200-meter relay team from South Ripley.
– In girls track, no members of the Lady Pacer team were honored for the week.
Jordan Clements of South Ripley was honored as the “Performer of the Week” for her efforts in the long jump, the 110-meter high hurdles, and the 100-meter dash.
“Top Performers” included Erica Wickstrom of South Ripley in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles; Jennifer Patrick of South Ripley in the 1,600-meter run; and Caitlyn Bowman of Rising Sun in the 3,200-meter run.
Also honored were the 400-meter, 1,600-meter, and 3,200-meter relay teams from Milan.
– In baseball, Pacer players Zach Osowski, Ryan Peters, and Ian Sisson were honored as “Top Performers”.
Zach Osowski was honored for going 5-for-11 at the plate including a double, scoring four runs and knocking in six; and also for pitching eight innings and allowing only one earned run in picking up a win.
Ryan Peters was honored for going 6-for-12 at the plate including a triple and scoring two runs during the week.
Ian Sisson was honored for going 4-for-9 at the plate and scoring two runs during the week.
South Ripley’s B.J. Sieverding was named the “Player of the Week” for setting a school record by striking out 19 batters in a seven inning game while picking up the win.
Other conference players honored as “Top Performers” included Chris Walker and Derek Walker of Milan; Tyler Banschbach and Tyler Jones of Rising Sun; Blake Sutton, Brandon Gehl, and David Busch of Jac-Cen-Del; Kyle Patrick and Jared Keck of South Ripley; and Michael Kring, Jacob Sanders, and Tregan Roberts of Madison Shawe.
– No Pacers were honored in golf by the conference for the week.
Deuce Wall and Nick Hall of Madison Shawe shared “Player of the Week” honors; and those honored as “Top Performers” included Bryan Peters of Milan; Michael Lovern of Rising Sun; Nick Mingione of Madison Shawe; Jared Rogers and Justin Clements of South Ripley; and Donnie Laws of Jac-Cen-Del.
