The 43 members of the Switzerland County Marching Pacer Band and Flag Corps earned first place in their respective categories at last Saturday’s Oktoberfest Parade in Seymour.
The Marching Pacers have marched at Seymour for many years, experiencing cool temperatures, heavy rains and even snow in past events; but this year’s event was the first in which the band performed in 102 degree temperatures – according to the thermometer at the bank next to the reviewing stand.
That same thermometer read 108 degrees just an hour after the band finished. The band is under the direction of Tammy Beitzel, the flag corps sponsor is Donna Turner.
