Switzerland County High School honored its athletes participating in winter sports on Wednesday evening, March 16th with an awards banquet in the cafeteria.
High School principal Daniel Noel and athletic director David Todd welcomed athletes and parents to the program, saluting both for their dedication to Switzerland County athletics. After the dinner, coaches from winter sports presented awards.
– For girls swimming, coach Eric Cole presented the Most Improved Award to Maya Drew; and the Most Valuable Swimmer Award top Hannah Slover.
– For boys swimming, coach Eric Cole presented the Most Improved Award to Brady Voris; and the Most Valuable Swimmer Award top Mikhail Cole.
– In junior varsity cheerleading, the Most Improved Award was presented to Shyla Prince; the Outstanding Leadership Award was earned by Chloe Griffin; and the Mental Attitude Award was awarded to MacKenzie Anderson.
- Varsity cheerleading awards were earned by Rachel Whitham for Most Improved; Halie Thomas for Outstanding Leadership; and the Mental Attitude Award was presented to Jessie Ray.
– Coach Sean McGarvey presented awards for freshman boys basketball. Kyle Konkle earned the Mental Attitude Award; Justus Powell earned the All Around Award; and T.J. White earned the Defense Award.
– For jayvee boys basketball, coach Mark Boggs presented the Freethrow Award to Hunter Jordan; the Defense Award to Clint Swanson; and the Most Improved Award to Austin Clark.
– Next was varsity boys basketball, and coach B.J. McAlister presented Keegan Kincaid with the Freethrow Award, the Total Assist Award; and the Defensive Award. Adam Clark earned the Field Goal Percentage Award, the Rebound Award, the Most Improved Award, and the Pacer Lunch Box Award; Trevor Smith earned the Defensive Award; and Bob Tressler earned the Teammate Award.
– In junior varsity girls basketball, Coach Denny Bowling presented the Freethrow Award to Emily White; the Defense Award to Mercedes Parham; the Rebound Award to Ashley Watson; and the Most Improved Award to Erika Coy.
– Lady Pacer varsity coach Wayne Ellegood then wrapped up the evening’s athletic presentations, presenting the Two Point Field Goal Award to Trisha Smith; the Three Point Field Goal Award to Kelly Kincaid; the Assist Award to Becca Sittloh; the Offensive Rebound Award to Hayley South; the Defense Award to Bre Hinman; and the Mental Attitude Award to Allie Mathews.
Senior Kristen Perry earned the Freethrow Award, the Defensive Rebound Award, and the award for the Most Steals.
– Athletic Director David Todd then concluded the evening by honoring those winter sports athletes who have maintained at least a 3.5 grade point average, earning a Scholastic Award.
For the freshman class, those honored included: Vicky Abbott, Erika Coy, and Mercedes Parham.
For the sophomore class, honored were: Maya Drew, Lauren Edwards, Chloe Griffin, Olivia Hewitt, Brooke Lock, Paige Ridener, Hannah Slover, Lindsey Turner, Emily White, and Rachel Whitham.
In the junior class, those honored included: Tony Hernandez, Bre Hinman, Keegan Kincaid, and Allie Mathews.
Seniors were awarded plaques for their scholastic efforts. Those honored included: Shea Dickerson, Julie Furnish, Kristen Perry, and Jessie Ray.
