The Switzerland County Lady Pacers earned a win 35-28 against the South Ripley Lady Raiders on Tuesday at home.
After the Lady Pacers took a one point lead in the opening quarter; the Lady Raiders grabbed the lead and held it until there were three minutes left in the period. Ashley Bright then buried a three-point basket and followed that with a two pointer to retake the lead; and Amber Smith finished of the opening stanza with a three-pointer to take the lead 8-7.
Megan McCarty opened the second quarter scoring for the Lady Pacers, connecting on a bucket and adding one at the line. The Lady Raiders answered back with a couple buckets of their own; but Tanya Sefton connected on a basket and Ashley Bright was fouled on an attempt and was sent to the line. Those freethrows then added two more points to the Switzerland County side of the scoreboard, keeping the lead at 15-14.
The Lady Raiders would hit one more two pointer before going to the locker room; but Ashley Bright answered back by hitting yet another three-point basket and followed with another bucket.
An April Thieman freethrow finished up the first half scoring, and both teams headed to the locker room with Switzerland County holding a 21-16 lead.
The third quarter was low scoring on both sides, as the Lady Raiders outscored the Lady Pacers by an 8-6 count. Ashley Bright was the only Lady Pacer to score during the period; connecting on two three-point baskets; and the teams went to the final quarter with the Lady Pacers hanging on to the lead, 27-24.
In the fourth quarter the Lady Raiders scored a bucket and added two at the line to take the lead 28-27; but April Thieman answered back for the Lady Pacers, scoring a bucket and adding one at the line to give Switzerland County a two point advantage.
Ashley Bright then buried yet another three-pointer to expand the lead to five; and the Lady Pacers sealed the win as they worked the ball inside to Morgan Ross to push on the winning margin to seven, 35-28.
Top scorer for the Lady Pacers with five three-point baskets was Ashley Bright who scored 21 points. She also had two rebounds and two assists.
April Thieman finished with four points and added eight rebounds; while Megan McCarty and Amber Smith each finished with three points. Morgan Ross and Tanya Sefton earned two points each.

The Switzerland County jayvee team also earned a win against South Ripley by a score of 32-29.
Maggie Armstrong, Shana Todd and Christina Ahaus all finished with six points for the game; while Carrie Truax earned five points; Karista Wengert scored four points; Chelsea Peters finished with three; and Lauren Chase chipped in two.
