Switzerland County senior guard Ashley Bright has been honored as one of the Top 40 senior girls in the state of Indiana.

The prestigious list is compiled by “Hoosier Basketball” magazine, and the girls named to the list will now be a part of the state’s “Top 40 Workout” that will be held on Sunday, April 15th, at Ben Davis High School.

Ashley Bright will participate in the first session on Sunday, which will be held from 1-3 p.m. She will be among 20 seniors from the north and the south; while the 20 seniors from central Indiana will be in the second session, which will be held from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Mike Armstrong, the coach at Perry Meridian High School; and Jodi Whitaker, the coach at Lawrence North High School, will direct both sessions.

The 12 members of the Indiana Girls All Star team will be selected from those participating in the “Top 40” workout.

Ashley Bright is the only player from this area to be honored with inclusion on the “Top 40” list. Emily Einhaus of Jac-Cen-Del High School was selected as an alternate for the workouts.

Ashley Bright had an outstanding career as a member of the Switzerland County Lady Pacer basketball program. She finishes her high school career ranking in the top 10 in nearly every offensive category in school history; and this year finished third in the state in freethrow percentage.

For her senior season, she averaged 14.5 points per game; pulled down 60 rebounds; handed out 71 assists; and shot 87-percent from the freethrow line (60-for-69).
