Change up your daily lunch routine this Wednesday November 7th, and try something different in Vevay.
During lunch hours, two stores in Vevay will be hosting demonstration artists. This is your chance to get out from your desk, break from your routine or just grab the kids or some friends and come into town during the day. This free event gives you a taste of what is going on in town. The demonstrations will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The Mercantile of Switzerland County will be hosting fiber artist Melodee Stepleton.
For Melodee Stepleton, spinning, weaving and other fiber crafts are more than just a hobby – it is a way to connect with an age-old tradition; and – by creating her own pieces and demonstrating how it is done – she sees it as a way of keeping the centuries-old processes alive.
Signatures of Switzerland County will be hosting Jim Day.
Jim Day creates sculptures of resin, which are finished in a metallic patina, simulating bronze. He also creates beautiful landscape paintings in acrylics and detailed originals in oils.
Jim Day has been painting since the age of nine. For years he mounted a variety of species, after studying taxidermy, this exacting craft produced a serious interest in sculpture and formal painting.
Melodee Stepleton and Jim Day are residents of Switzerland County and are a great representation of the quality, caliber and variety of artists in the community.
Both demonstrations are open to the public and free of charge, no appointments are necessary to meet the artists.
