Bob McDonald will be the featured artist at Signatures of Switzerland County during tomorrow (Friday) night’s “First Friday” event, being held from 6-9 p.m.

His work will remain on display throughout the month of December.

Bob McDonald’s woodcraft lamps and an unusual reversible table made out of spalted black walnut will be featured at the gallery. The artist’s photography will also be on display, showcasing his wildlife photos and scenic images highlighting icescapes and lighthouses.

Raised in Texas, McDonald attended Auburn University in Alabama. He now lives and works at his studio in Florence. He first started making wooden trains with his grandfather when he was six years old.

While in the navy, he began doing ceramics and woodworking. He also took a special interest in wildlife photography and enjoys photographing animals, birds, moths, bees, pelicans and herons found at zoos and in the wild.

Bob McDonald will be present at the opening, demonstrating the art of woodturning while handcrafting wooded pens.

Music will be provided from a group of carolers from the Vevay Music Club and accompanied by an autoharp.

Signatures is located at 120 West Main Street in downtown Vevay. The event is free and open to the public.
