Arrest made in hit-and-run case

Switzerland County Sheriff Nathan Hughes has announced that an arrest was made last week in connection with the hit-and-run incident early last week that left a person injured.

Robert G. Konkle, 48, of Vevay, was arrested early in the evening last Wednesday, April 15th. He is expected to face multiple charges related to the accident.

Authorities allege that at approximately 10 p.m. on Monday, April 13th, a vehicle driven by Konkle struck and seriously injured a bicyclist on State Road 56 along Vevay Hill just north of Vevay.

Investigators believe that Konkle stopped briefly before speeding off, and in the process struck and damaged another vehicle which was owned by a passing motorist who had stopped to help. The witness was not injured.

The victim on the bicycle was transported to University Hospital in Louisville for treatment of a neck injury.

Sheriff Hughes stated that he would like to thank all of those in the community who phoned his office with information, all of which aided the investigation.

“Arrests would often times be difficult without the help of concerned citizens,” Sheriff Hughes said.

The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
