Area Christmas services are set

The Christmas season is upon us; and churches around the area are announcing special services in celebration of the holiday season.

Here’s a look at services that have been announced:

– Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church has announced its annual Cantata and candlelight Christmas Eve Service. The service will be held on Saturday evening, December 24th, at 8 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church. The church is located on the corner of Main and Union Streets in Vevay. There will be a social hour in the fellowship hall following the service. Everyone is invited to attend the service.

– Mass on Saturday, December 24th, Christmas Eve, will be at 4 p.m. at the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church. Likewise, Mass on Saturday, December 31st, New Year’s Eve, will also be at 4 p.m. There will be no Masses on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.

The Most Sorrowful Mother of God Church is located on Ferry Street in Vevay across from the Jeff-Craig Firehouse. Mass is held every Saturday at 4 p.m. with Pastor Reverend Christopher Craig and Deacon Mike Gardner officiating. Reverend Stephen Ward is the organist.

– Markland Baptist Church will be holding its Children’s Christmas Party on Sunday, December 18th, from 12:30-2 p.m. There will be a visit from Santa and there will also be refreshments and crafts.

Markland Baptist Church will be having its Christmas Eve Service at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 24th, with fellowship to follow. Anyone needing more information should contact Mary Martin at (812) 534-3942.

– Olive Branch Baptist Church just north of Fairview will be holding its Children’s Christmas program this Sunday, December 18th, at 10 a.m. during the morning service.

The church will hold a Christmas Eve service on Saturday, December 24th, at 6 p.m.; and on Christmas Day the morning service will begin at 10 a.m. There will be no Sunday School on Christmas morning.

Olive Branch Baptist Church is located on Bear Branch Road approximately two miles north of the Fairview Store off of State Road 250.
