On Saturday March 10th, both the Switzerland County High School and Switzerland County Middle School Archery teams headed to the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana to compete in the Indiana State NASP tournament.

Three members of the teams competed individually in the Bulls-eye competition, with all three archers shooting their personal best scores to date on the bulls-eye range. Congratulations to Hunter Hines: 270; Makayla Harris: 273; and Robert Wood: 271.

Along with the Bulls-eye competition, Nine Switzerland County High School archers and seven Switzerland County Middle School archers were able to compete in the 2018 Indiana NASP/IBO 3D Challenge.

Both teams were able to post some solid scores on the 3-D targets with their teams scores — High School: 1,537 and Middle School: 1,471. A perfect team score is 1,800.

Those scores should give both teams an opportunity to compete in the National NASP/IBO 3D Challenge in Louisville, Kentucky in May.

“We, as coaches, could not be prouder of a group of kids,” Coach Harold Scranton said. “Since we started the archery season in October of 2017, this group of kids has improved so much in a short amount of time. They are really starting to see if they put in the practice that they will continue to improve on their scores. I would like to thank our parents and sponsors, because without their support we could not continue our success.”

Other coaches of the archery team are: Lisa Scranton, Ron Harris, and Lura Scudder.
