To the Editor:
In regard to Mrs. Fisher’s comments about Democrats ruining our country: FDR steered the country out of the Depression and led our country into World War II, LBJ put into effect more civil rights legislation than any other president, Bill Clinton led the country to its greatest economic heights.
Here are some brief reminders of what the Republicans have given us: “read my lips — no new taxes,” followed by the largest tax increase in history (for those low and middle classes); “WMD threaten U.S.:, followed by the invasion of Iraq where no WMD were found. When Bush took office, the U.S. had a record fiscal surplus — now what is the deficit?
Perhaps Mrs. Fisher is a Native American, which would be the only people in the U.S. who are not immigrants. Who will work the tobacco fields, pick the fruit, and do the work that Americans are too lazy to perform?
I do agree on one point from Mrs. Fisher: The American people need to wake up. If you don’t vote, don’t complain.
