With amazing weather and large crowds, this year’s Swiss Wine Festival was again a big success.
“Overall, everything went well,” Festival President Kirk Works said. “The overall attendance was up from last year; and we had a record attendance in the Wine Tasting Pavilion. The amusement rides also reached a new record.
Highlighting the entertainment this year was a performance by county music star Tracy Lawrence, who played a packed audience on the big stage at the ballpark, as well as a large crowd who listened from the Beer Garden.
Saturday saw a big turnout for the 5K walk/run; one of the biggest parades in recent memory - which also honored the community’s upcoming Bicentennial celebration; and opportunities for visitors to experience everything from grape stomping to a riverboat cruise to riding in a seaplane.
The Little Swiss Polka Dancers were again a big hit; and Saturday was capped by the fireworks show as well as a laser light show.
The events continued on Sunday as both the junior high and high school cheerleading competitions were held; and everyone finished off four days of outstanding food and fun.
“I would like to thank the many volunteers, board members, and chairpersons who worked countless hours in putting on this year’s festival,” Kirk Works said. “I would also like to thank all of the sponsors who make the festival possible each year.”
