Anders, Oeffinger earn All Sectional honors in cross country

Led by senior Leah Anders, the Switzerland County Lady Pacer cross country team advanced to the Regional for the fourth straight year on Saturday with a third place team finish in the Southwestern Sectional.

 

Switzerland County advanced as a team by posting a score of 102 points, placing them third behind champion Jennings County (28) and second place Silver Creek (62). Madison was fourth with a score of 106; and Crothersville finished fifth overall to advance as a team for the first time in school history. The Tigers were led by freshman Kaylyn Holman, who was the individual winner of the race.

 

Leah Anders

Anders ran to her fourth place finish in a time of 21:34.9 in near record heat to lead Switzerland County. She was joined on the All Sectional team by fellow Lady Pacer Keirstan Oeffinger, who ran to a 15th place overall finish in a time of 22:57.3. Alisha Detmer finished 24th overall in a time of 23:44.8; Matty Anderson was 26th overall in a time of 23:53.0; and Allison Detmer was 49th overall in a time of 28:04.1.

The Lady Pacers now advance to the Brown County Regional this Saturday, October 13th, with the race scheduled to get underway at 10:30 a.m.

The boys cross country team continued to work through its season, battling injuries while still running to an eighth place finish with 243 points to miss out on advancing to the Regional.

 

Garrett Demaree

Senior Garrett Demaree was the top Pacer runner, finishing in 36th place overall in a time of 19:59.1 to just miss out qualifying for the Regional as an individual.

Freshman Ben Hicks was 50th in a time of 21:22.6; Jaydon Day was 67th in a time of 24:22.8; Peyton Gammons was 70th in a time of 26:38.5; and Levi Baker finished 74th in a time of 30:01.9.
