Anders, Demaree lead the way for Pacer cross country teams

The Switzerland County boys and girls cross country teams hosted their only home meet of the season last Wednesday night, August 22nd. The meet was a five team invitational.
The Lady Pacers won the meet with an impressive team score of 17 points (a perfect score is 15). Leah Anders was the overall individual champion with an impressive early season time of 21:52 — nearly three minutes better than the second place runner. Kiersten Oeffinger finished third overall with a time of 24:36; Alisha Detmer was fourth in a time of 24:37; Matty Anderson was fifth in a time of 24:38; and Allison Detmer finished 11th in a time of 27:32.

As a team, Carroll County finished second to Switzerland County with a score of 38; while Rising Sun, Southwestern, and Shawe Memorial had runners in the event, but did not have enough to record a team score.
In the boys race, Switzerland County showed that it was getting healthy, with injured runners back on the course and competing.

Garrett Demaree

Southwestern, led by individual champion Bradley Winston, won the boys title with a score of 16; while Switzerland County finished with a team score of 39. Rising Sun, Shawe Memorial, and Carroll County had individual runners but not enough to record a team score.
Pacer Garrett Demaree led the way for Switzerland County, finishing eighth overall in a time of 20:45; and Ben Hicks came home in 11th place overall with a time of 21:18.
Coby Manbeck was 14th in a time of 22:55; Kayman McElhany was 16th in a time of 24:43; and Peyton Gammons ran to a 21st place finish in a time of 31:41.
