An artist

Dear Editor:

First, let me state that I do not know Ms. Johnson and merely recognize Mr. Leatherbury when I see him. Although Ms. Johnson’s main complaint may well be how funds are spent in our county (something I would agree with), I can’t let her last statement go unchallenged.

Ms. Johnson, I admittedly don’t know your qualifications for judging what is art, but you are very mistaken. Josiah Leatherbury is definitely an artist. If you can do a better job of painting the mural, have at it; I can’t. And as encouraging as scholastic art may be, it seldom produces real artists.
