The Vevay American Legion Post #185 invites everyone in Switzerland County to fly your flag today (Thursday), September 11th.
The American Flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and business in the United States. Every individual should make it his or her duty to display an American Flag on the seventh anniversary of one of America’s worst tragedies.
Flying the American Flag will honor those who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001; as well as their families, friends, and loved ones who continue to endure their pain. The Flag also honors those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve this country’s freedoms.
In the days, weeks, and months following September 11th, this country was bathed in American Flags as citizens mourned the losses and stood shoulder to shoulder against terrorism.
The patriotism of American citizens has pulled this country through some tough times, and it shouldn’t take another attack to galvanize Americans in solidarity. The American Flag is the fabric of this country, and together everyone can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.
As Americans, the members of the American Legion feels that everyone should fly the Flag all year long, but for those who don’t, please make an effort to fly the Flag today and show the world that America hasn’t forgotten what happened on that day seven years ago.
