It has been a busy two weeks at Ruth Lohide’s when she had a nice surprise on Thursday, July 19th, when Mr. and Mrs. Bob Pohlkotte of Ballwin, Missouri, Mr. and Mrs. Mel (Charlie) Pohlkotte of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee and Carolyn Luckas of Twinsburg, Ohio, stopped by for a visit. It had been several years since Ruth had seen these folks. They were on their way to Madison to celebrate Carolyn’s birthday.
Steve, Norma, Keegan and McKenna Lohide and Andrew Finnie of Mesa Arizona, arrived on the 15th for a visit. They all helped Ruth with her “to do” list and enjoyed the 4-H Fair. Saturday, July 21st, the Lohide/Martin get together was held at Ruth’s and it was a special night for Kali Carfield, Keegan Lohide, and Andrew Finnie who were 2012 graduates. Kali has joined the Navy, Andrew has joined the Army and Keegan is enrolled at Briar Cliff College in Iowa. Steve returned to Arizona on Sunday while the rest of the family remained for a while. On Wednesday, July 25th, Norma, Ruth, Keegan, McKenna, and Andrew toured downtown Indianapolis and especially enjoyed the Indiana World War Memorial Museum. The group spent the night with the Mark Lawson family and Ruth returned home on Thursday. Norma and the kids drove to Kim Bennis’ home in Wentzville, Missouri and spent the night, leaving for Arizona on Friday. They arrived home safely on Saturday, July 28th.
Tasty Travels Across America held at Boone County Extension office in Burlington, Kentucky, on Tuesday, July 24th, was attended by East Enterprise Homemakers Mary Jane Kincaid, Barb Barnhill, Myra Boles, Connie Hollander, and Ruth Lohide. Norma and McKenna Lohide also attended as guests of Ruth. Posey Tappers also had members attend. They got to explore recipes from the Living Well Cookbook and each registered attendee took home a Living Well Cookbook and cutting board.
