Emerson and Marcella Cole of near Fairview entertained with a Christmas Day dinner. It was a pitch-in as everybody brought something and everything w as delicious. Among other things Marcella made her applesauce cake and Kathy Smith made her carrot cake. They are always favorites.
Guests were Clint Cole of Rising Sun, Thomas Cole, Bryce and Kaleb of near Aurora, Linda Jones of Vevay, Mark and Kathy Smith of near Center Square, Jacob and Rachael Cole and Landon of near Rising Sun, Jim and Cris Miller, Christian, Joey and Jadon of near East Enterprise. There was a gift exchange and a pretty Christmas tree and there was lots of visiting.
Randy Cole, Stuart Wales, Benjamin and Samuel phoned from London, England wishing everyone Merry Christmas. They also sent gifts. Emerson and Mary Lynn Cole and Clayton of Seneca, Illinois phoned Christmas wishes and sent gifts. Andy and Kara Jones and Chandler of Aledo, Texas sent a delicious fruit cake.
Callers of Emerson and Marcella Cole before Christmas were Steve Cole on Christmas Eve. Other callers were Matt and Victoria Werner and Paige and new baby Preslie born September 9th. She is just adorable and so pretty. Victoria had to work Christmas Day. They live near Aurora. Emerson and Mary Lynn Cole of Seneca, Illinois came before Christmas and visited relatives and to attend the visitation and funeral of Richard “Dickie” Kinman of Madison. He was 43 years old and the son of Wendell and Lori Kinman of Carrollton and Carolyn Warfield of near Carrollton. They stayed here a couple of days. Our condolences to the Kinman family on their loss.
Barbara Rapp of Kentucky and Beverly Weifering of Florid visited Emerson and Marcella Cole one afternoon last week. They also brought a fruit basket. They are very pretty twins. We enjoyed their visit very much. The Coles also received fruit baskets from Olive Branch Baptist Church and Fairview United Methodist Church. They were appreciated.
Congratulations to Jerry Clayton, eighth grade student, who is a District Lugar Essay winner. Jerry and his family will be invited to the Spring Conference held in Indianapolis in March, to find out if he is a state winner.
Ruth Lohide spent the Christmas holiday in Illinois with Kim and Bob Bennis and family. They attended St. Peter Lutheran Church for Christmas Eve services and communion. Steve Lohide called from Arizona to wish the family a Merry Christmas.
Ruth visited with Mary Madigan in Indianapolis on her way home from Illinois. Mary is a resident of the Greentree Assisted Living Center which is a beautiful facility and all of Mary’s needs are taken care of by the staff. Mr. Madigan passed away this fall and was a dear friend of the Lohides.
Friends and family visit with Carolyn Lohide at Swiss Villa on a regular basis and she is making great progress. Myra Boles and Wilma Lohide were visitors this past week. Ruth Lohide, Mark Lohide and Charles Martin were there also. Ruth also called on Ruth Schwade and found her in good spirits.
