Aleiah Thomas paces win


Aleiah Thomas won four events on Friday night on her way to earning the Most Valuable Participant award at the Vevay Media Group Track Invitational; leading the Switzerland County Lady Pacer Middle School track team to the title.

Thomas won the 100-meter dash in a time of :13.55; the 200-meter dash in a time of :28.33; the high jump with a height of 4’8″; and was a member of the winning 400-meter relay team, which posted a time of :56.23. Other members of that squad were Lillian Northcutt, Leighla Day, and McKenli Scudder.

Also earning first place honors on Friday night were Keirstan Oeffinger, who finished first in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:59.54 and the 800-meter run in a time of 2:42.85. She was also a part of the second place finishing 1,600-meter relay team along with teammates Allison Furnish, Allison Detmer, and Kiley Flanders.

Northcutt won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:07.29; and Day won the long jump with a distance of 13′ 3 1/2″.

Detmer was second in the 100-meter hurdles; Scudder was second in the long jump; and Flanders was second in the 800-meter run.

Earning third place points were Scudder in the 100-meter dash and Furnish in the 400-meter dash; while Scudder was fourth in the 200-meter dash and Cora Ferguson was fourth in both the shot put and discus.

The Lady Pacers will look to continue their outstanding season when they host the Conference Track Meet this Monday, May 9th.
