‘Be The One’, a local non-profit whose mission is to see the world’s orphans adopted into loving families, is planning to promote adoption by hosting their second “Embrace Adoption” Celebration.
The meeting, which will be held on Saturday, February 18th, from 10 a.m. to noon at Community Fellowship Church in Lawrenceburg, is for any individuals who are interested in learning more about the organization, the process of adoption or those who have adopted and are looking for support.
Speaking to the group will be Maria Gocke, the Indiana State Coordinator for All Blessings International. Maria has her Masters in Social Work and has worked in the adoption field for 10 years in Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois. In addition, she facilitates an adoption support group with Orphan Care Alliance and is the treasurer of the Kentucky Adoption Coalition.
‘Be The One’ was created in 2012 by a local mom of seven, who has adopted three times, after she realized how little support was available to families who are both in the process of adopting and those who have already adopted. Founder Mary Beth Osowski, concerned about the declining numbers of adoption states, “We want to make the community aware of the need for adoptive families and the options available for those considering growing their family in this way. We also want to support those local families who have adopted through connections with other adoptive families.”
There will be refreshments following the meeting and child care is available upon request. If you would like any further information, you may contact Mary Beth at (812) 594-2228 or visit their website at www.betheone1.org.
