Absentee voting is underway in the commissioners room of the Ohio County Courthouse for the May 5 Rising Sun City Primary and School referendum.
County clerk Jamie Stegemiller and the Ohio County Election Board have set the following hours for absentee voting: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 .m. to 4:15 p.m.; and on Saturday, April 25th and May 2nd from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
All voters can vote for the school referendum while city residents can call for a Democrat ballot to cast a vote for the only contested race – Precinct 1 Councilman.
Current council member Jim McDaniel is being challenged by former Ohio County Sheriff Francis Swede Colen.
Voting will take place at the Rising Sun Senior Center on Election Day for all precincts except for seven, eight and nine (Cass, Union, Pike) which will vote at the county highway garage on Woods Ridge.
