J. O. Smith, Superintendent of the Rising Sun-Ohio County Community Schools resigned Tuesday night. His resignation will be effective January 31. Supt. Smith, who has a master degree and specialist degree from Indiana University, has been superintendent here since July 1962 when he replaced Hugh Espey.
Birth: a son to Mr. and Mrs. John R. (Dick) Broadus, born December 24 and has been named John Michael. He weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces.
Scribblings by Dorotha Stegemiller: Christmas come but once a year. And on the day after – do you find this a comforting thought? It seems we spend weeks planning for “Christmas this year” – shopping, decorating and fulfilling the customs and traditions of the season. Then the celebrated day flies by and suddenly it’s “Christmas last year”!
*A note from this columnist: The newspaper dated December 30, 1965 was a small issue with only four pages and contained news of visits during the holidays and ads for Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and clearance sales. So this week make some memories with family and friends and enjoy the holidays.
So from Our House to Yours my family wishes Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!!
