The eighth grade girls basketball team had a big week, winning two of three games.
– On Saturday, Switzerland County earned the Snowbird Classic championship with wins over Shawe and St. Lawrence.
In the Shawe victory, the Lady Pacers won by a count of 28-16; with Rylee Hankins leading the way with eight points.
Calleigh Powell and Hailey Gerster each had five points in the win; Ariel Oeffinger added four points; and Lexi Lay, Maggie Clayton, and Kinsley Griffith each had two.
In the championship game, Switzerland County defeated St. Lawrence by a score of 28-27.
Rylee Hankins again led the Lady Pacers with 11 points; while Lexi Lay added six and Hailey Gerster had three.
Calleigh Powell, Maggie Clayton, Shaelyn Lack, and Ariel Oeffinger each had two points in the title game.
– Last Wednesday the Lady Pacers were outscored 14-4 in the third quarter and lost to South Ripley, 33-17.
Kinsley Griffith was the leading scorer with four points; Ariel Oeffinger had three points; and Lexi Lay, Rylee Hankins, Maggie Clayton, Shaelyn Lack and Maggie Henry all had two points each.
The team now has a record of 4-1 overall. Gary Pavy is the team’s coach.
