4-H Roundup is a big success

The Switzerland County 4-H program held its first annual “2008 Round Up” of members this past Saturday, and the event was a popular one with children, as a large crowd came to the community building to find out more about the 4-H program.

Representatives from the different 4-H clubs in the county were available during the event to answer questions about their particular clubs.

Many of the clubs also had games for everyone to play; and there was also information about different projects that are available.

The round up was an opportunity to learn all of the ways that a student can participate in the 4-H program. Everyone also had the chance to win prizes, participate in drawings, and enjoy some refreshments.

Live animals were also on hand for students to learn about; and many of the clubs displayed past projects that had been done by club members so students could see what is involved in different areas.

The round up was also a chance for children to sign up to participate in this year’s 4-H program. New handbooks were available when students signed up; and any child who didn’t have the chance to come to the round up, but who would want to participate in the 4-H program, may still sign up in the extension office on East Main Street.
