2017 4-H Fair Queen will be crowned this Saturday


The Switzerland County 4-H Fair will kick off this Saturday night, July 8th, with the annual Fashion Revue, and it will be joined this year by a familiar favorite – the Queen Contest.

This year’s Queen Contest will be incorporated into the Fashion Revue, and will be held on Saturday night beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Building on the fairgrounds.

This year there are two contestants vying for the title of Miss Switzerland County. The winner will reign over this year’s fair; and will also represent the county at the Indiana State Fair Queen pageant, which will be held in Indianapolis in August.

This year’s contestants include:

– SUMMER JEWELL DICKERSON is 18 years old, and is a 2017 graduate of Switzerland County High School. She is the daughter of Mark Dickerson and Bridgette Miller, and is being sponsored in the pageant by the Reynolds Family.

She was the second runner up in the 2016 Miss Switzerland County pageant; and was the fourth runner up in the 2016 Edelweiss Princess pageant.

In school, Summer was President of the Business Professionals of America; was President of the Student Council; and was co-President of Students Against Destructive Decisions. She was the co-Vice President of the Senior Class; Vice President of the Junior Historical Society; and was also involved in the FFA and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

She enjoys hunting, riding horses, and spending time with family and friends.

Her career ambition is to have a career as a neonatal nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

– EMMA DORNBUSCH is the daughter of Chris and Jennifer Dornbusch; and is a 2017 graduate of Switzerland County High School. The 18-year old is being sponsored in this year’s pageant by Dornbusch Woodworking.

While in high school Emma served as the captain of the English team in the Academic Super Bowl competitions; was a two-time winner in the District FFA Animal Science Demonstration event; and is a two-time competitior in the World Archery Competition. In 4-H, she earned Senior Showmanship honors in the poultry class.

She was active in the FFA chapter; is a 10-year member of the Switzerland County 4-H program; and also competed on the Academic teams and was a part of the ‘Friends of Rachel’ organization.

Emma enjoys drawing, going to concerts, traveling, hanging out with friends, and photography.

Her career ambition is to pursue a career as a tattoo artist.
