2016 Switzerland County 4-H Fair wraps up this Saturday night with auction


The 2016 Switzerland County 4-H is in full swing, and there’s still plenty of time to head to the fairgrounds and enjoy all of the projects, events, and activities.

The fair is in its final three days, and here’s a look at what’s going on at the fair:

– Today (Thursday) the rabbit show kicks off events beginning at 9 a.m.; with the Cat Show at 2 p.m. followed by the Pocket Pet Show at 3 p.m.

All Open Class exhibits are due into the Commercial Building today (Thursday) between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.; and those entering food categories may pick those up today after 2 p.m.

Clint Anders will give a Primitive Bow Making demonstration from 5-7 p.m.; with the beef show will be held beginning at 7 p.m.

Thursday will wrap up with the Fox Hollow Rodeo beginning at 7 p.m. (See page B-6 for more rodeo details).

-  Tomorrow (Friday), begins with one of the most popular projects, as the Shooting Sports demonstration takes place at the Switzerland County Sportsman’s Club on Bennington Pike beginning at 9 a.m.; and at the fairgrounds there will be a dog agility demonstration at 9 a.m. prior to the Dog Show, which will begin at 1 p.m.

At the horse arena, there will be a Horse Speed Show at 3 p.m.; followed by a Horse Fun Show at 5 p.m.

The Johnny Andrew Memorial Pedal Tractor Pull will be held on the Midway at 5 p.m. tomorrow night.

At 7 p.m. that evening “Silly Safari” will present a show; and also at 7 p.m. is the Sanctioned Truck and Tractor Pull

Friday night will end with Pig Wrangling at 8 p.m.

-  The final day of the 2016 Fair kicks off this Saturday when the Round Robin Showmanship competition is held at and around the show arena beginning at 10 a.m.

At 3 p.m. the annual auction barbecue is held at the shelter house near the show arena; and the 4-H Livestock auction will be held beginning at 4 p.m.

Open Class exhibits may be picked up at the Commercial Building between 6-8 p.m. on Saturday.

Projects will be released from the Exhibit Hall from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and the night will be capped by the KOI Truck and ATV drags beginning at 7 p.m.


The 4-H Exhibit Hall will be open today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) from 4-9 p.m.; and on Saturday from 2-6:30 p.m.

The Commercial Building will be open today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) from 5-6 p.m.; and on Saturday from noon until 9 p.m.


Also going on nightly through Saturday evening is an inflatable midway. The cost is $5 per night.
